New Bus from Dahab to St Catherine's

Today the new Bedouin Mini Bus starts a twice daily return journey from Dahab to St Catherine's Monastery and town. The new mini bus will provide a good link between Dahab and St Catherines towns allowing people a different option from the usual 'whistle stop' climb and monastery tour.

St Catherines has a lot more of offer than just Monastery and Mountain and Sheikh Salem House is happy to be working in partnership with Bedouin Paths, Sheikh Musa Camp in St Catherines. It is not just a joining of towns, by making them both more accessible, it is also a venture of tribal co-operation between the Jebeliya and Mozzina Tribes to enable improved tourism access to the area.

The Lazy Camel Cafe with new Bedouin Fusion

We are happy to announce our new Bedouin food menu at The Lazy Camel Cafe. Our cafe is now with all local Bedouin staff and local bedouin cusine, presented and cooked in a fusion style in our cafe kitchen. Bedouin food is slow cooked (usually on a fire or with coals) using the fresh ingredients. Fresh herbs are used in Bedouin cooking to create dishes bursting with flavour and goodness.

Our cafe is set in our beach arisha made from natural materials and palm leaves with one of the nicest views in Dahab north towards the canyon and the blue hole. Above is our Bedouin  Chicken sandwich made from fresh farashee Bedouin bread.

Also on the Bedouin local specialities including FaAtaah, Mardoosh and the already popular Maglooba.  A full menu will be posted on our website soon along with more information about our cafe and other events.

Chris Makes an IBedouin Chat Application

Our good friend Chris was back in Dahab during October. Chris is well known for the excellent website www.ilovedahab.com

We were happy to see his creative tech juices were flowing while he was back in Dahab on holiday!  He came up with this nice Bedouin chat room called IBedouin. It is primarly for the Bedouin community to connect but it is also for anyone who can appreciate Bedouin or Bedouin style living or working arrangements who want to also share ideas.

See you in there Chris and all  : D

Chris left back to Romania a few days ago, we miss him already and we also really miss his wife Sorina and son Paul. We look forward to seeing you all here in 2010.
