Sheikh Salem House welcomes you to come and enjoy one of the finest locations to stay in the town of Dahab. We are a unique budget boutique hotel set right on the beach in Dahab. We are really the house of a real Bedouin Sheikh who wants you to come and enjoy our Bedouin hospitality.

We are just 10 minutes walk from the centre of town, 8 minutes from the Lighthouse area and one minute walk from the Assalah market area. We are just to the north of the town at the Eel Garden area of Assalah Beach, right at the end of the beach footpath.

We have an amazing view of Mountains, the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia and as we are at the start of a quiet residential area, we offer a perfect base for relaxation or exploring Sinai.

We offer unique accommodation to suit all budgets, ranging from our budget rooms with views, to luxury suites fully equipped with everything you need -we are a guest house with a difference and we offer a real home like environment. Situated on the ground floor of the house The Residences are quality deluxe suites for those who want the comforts of home in a self contained suite - its like having your own studio flat with all you need close to hand. We have only ten suites and all are different, with lots of character and are tastefully furnished with quality furniture and fittings.

Sea View Suites -These suites are so close to the sea you can here the waves breaking on the shore from your bed! Set right on the beach the views from these suites enable you to enjoy stunning sunrises and sunsets over the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia. All sea view suites have private patios, perfect for outdoor dinning and admiring the views.

Mountain and Sea View Suites - offer lovely great views of the Sinai Mountains and a part sea view of the Red Sea and a rare chance to see some Bedouin culture in action at affordable prices.

Mountain & Garden View - Superb suites set in our garden area with views of the Sinai mountains. These suites also benefit from the best of the sunshine in the winter months are our best value deluxe suites. All Garden suites have private patios perfectly positioned for enjoying the afternoon sun.

The Sheikh Suite is our family sized suite located in our garden. Its big enough for a small family to share or a group of 3 adults.

The first floor provides budget and backpacker accommodation with large airy and unique rooms with amazing views, called Rooms with Views. If you don't mind the simple things in life and a back to basics style then you will absolutely love this accommodation. A bit like a camp/hostel with a home like feel, and with some of the best views in Dahab at affordable prices.

We are great place for groups to stay and enjoy the home like atmosphere. Special discounts will apply for groups of 6 or more persons staying in either the residences or rooms with views. We are a family friendly guest house and have had families stay with us from all over the world. 

The Sheikh Suite is our largest suite and is situated in our garden. It can accommodate a  small family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children under 12) in an open plan sleeping area. This suite benefits from Air conditioning and Satellite TV and usually costs just 200 Egyptian pounds per night.

We also offer budget family accommodation which is a large apartment that is great for big families (can sleep up to 8) on our first floor. See groups and families for more information.

The House is available for private hire for large groups and families (up to 34 people) for events including birthdays, anniversaries, wedding parties and much more. We are also perfect for corporate events or teaching, workshops, seminars, team building activities. On the edge of town, the house provides a relaxed environment to unwind and rejuvenate. Our accommodation and services offer something for everyone, we are perfect for families, groups, couples, honeymooners or individual travellers.

We deliver personalised services and our team will provide you with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We are not a hotel but a private house owned by the Sheikh of Dahab and his family, that has been transformed for all to enjoy. We want our guests to use the house as their home, making full use of the lovely private beach and communal areas.

We are managed to western standards by a small and friendly Bedouin and English Team. We are devoted to delivering quality accommodation and holidays that inspire, rejuvenate and provide the opportunity to explore and conserve the unique environment, cultures and fascinating history of Dahab, Sinai and Egypt.

We are a sustainable tourism organisation since our outset in 2006. We support our local Bedouin community through several projects at the guest house. The first is through employment opportunities, we work primarily with our local community, these means all our staff are from South Sinai  (except one, who is the English female in the team - bringing about some female balance and IT skills but who is also turning Bedouin!).

So all our staff from your first welcome at the airport by one of our taxi's, to your housekeeper, your waiter and chef are all local Bedouin. Our cafe menu is the first full Bedouin cafe menu in Dahab probably since the early 80's.

The second part of our sustainable projects at our Guest House is a Bedouin Crafts Centre, which is part of our work with local Bedouin women. We sell their hand made arts by fair trade and we are developing new items and designs to bring a modern twist to their traditional work. We also stock crafts made in other parts of Sinai including Fansina from St Catherines and Cross Stitch work from the women in El Arish.

The third part of our work is to promote Bedouin culture to a wider audience and provide information to people all over the world. We provide information to external sources for publications and various other projects, print and internet articles.

This is just a taster of the work we have started in Dahab, we will soon make some special sections to this website detailing this in more depth.

Our fourth part of our work is to encourage minimising the negative impacts of tourism, by suggesting energy conservation, re using towels and bed linens, re using plastic containers and glass jars and other environmentally friendly practises.

We are committed to and working towards adoption of best practice guidelines set out by several sustainable trade organisations and The Travel Foundation. Soon we will be dedicating a web page to this work.
